It's hard to believe recordings of this quality could habe been "buried" all these years: but thnaks to Pete Kuykendall and Copper Creek Records we can hear the "lost" 2nd Mercury album recorded in 1964. The Country Gentlemen were hitting their prime when theserecordings were made as a follow up to their "Folk Session Inside" LP for Mercury, but some sort of dispute led to cancellation of their contract. They went on to even greater success with the new Rebel label starting with their classic recording of BRINGING MARY HOME. Many of the songs in this collection were re-recorded for Rebel immediately, as the band knew the Mercury cuts would not be forthcoming. Despite the obvious duplication here, there are enough subtle differences and new cuts to make this issue significant as well as highly enjoyable. The title cut is especially neat and typical of this band at its best. The group is the "classic" configuration: CHARLIE WALLER, JOHN DUFFEY, EDDIE ADCOCK and TOM GRAY
